S.L.J Flight task

Kia Ora bloggers,

Today, for my class and I's first Summer Learning Journey task, we made paper planes. But not just the one pointy one. We also made round.

We were given 3 pieces of paper after watching the video with Nanogirl.
She showed us the three ways of making the rockets with each piece of paper.

First, A paper plane.
Second, A Ring Glider.
Third, Hoop Plane.

We needed: Three pieces of paper, pencil, scissors and a ruler.

The second one was probably the most hard. Rolling the tube part was pretty tricky, I kept mucking up. In the end I finally made it, after the rest making the other two.

The other two were easy. Understanding was a bit hard, but after that, everything went nice and smooth. The paper rockets flew well and it was fun to make.
I personally like the Ring Glider the most.

I cant wait to experiment with more of them!

Here is a pic of the Original Paper Plane.

Puzzle Party

Kia Ora Bloggers,

Today, my class and I did another art activity. There were different types to choose from. Puzzle, crossword, who came first and more.

The Puzzle one I did was really fun. I finished only about 5. It was an art piece that got split into puzzle pieces and I had to put it back together again.

I also did the "Who Came First?". I was given two photos and a specific amount of time. In that time I had to guess what art piece was made first, the faster I guessed right, the more points I got. My high-score was about 540.

I personally like the Puzzle one more, because its more fun and interesting. When I click on the photos, they give me a tiny bit of info about them.

All the art I saw were very unique and fascinating

Im going to be doing these Art Activities heaps and may also share them along the way.

Have a great day!

Visual crossword

Hiya Bloggers

Today my class and I, did a Visual Crossword task. It was kinda like an art puzzle.

We were given a few options of Art choices and had to put them in the right place depending on the artist, name of the art piece, where it was set, etc.

I only made it up to level 8, but it was still very fun and tricky. It was a bit of a challenge because I don't know much about art.

I had tons of fun and thinking doing this task.

Here is the link to the website!

Writing

 Kia Ora bloggers,

Today, as a given task, my class and I wrote a story. It could be about anything, but their had to be a simile and metaphor in it. You could do more than one, or just one.

Heres mine!

As soon as her eyes opened, a new day had begun.

Saria had been waiting for this day, ever since 3 months ago!

She was finally turning 13. The red-head hoped it would be a nice day, but she was wrong.

Grey clouds scattered in the sky like ants trying to get away. It was cold, and gloomy.

But the girl didn't let that spoil her day. Sure it was terrible weather, but it was still her birthday to start.

After getting dressed, she scurried downstairs. The smell of fresh pancakes and chocolate filled Saria’s nose.

Her mother always made sure she had the best day when she aged up. Saria finally reached the kitchen.

“Mornin Mum!” She greeted her mother as she sat down near the counter.

“Good morning Hun” Saria’s mother turned around to see her daughter.

“You sure look like a star” She smiled. Saria smiled, she liked getting compliments on her outfits.

She one day wanted to be a fashion designer. Her fashion was pure gold.

Saria hopped off the stool, and made her way to the lounge.

She sat on the couch, slumping as if she had been working all day long.

She quickly turned on the TV, and began to flick through channels, most were either for little kids, or adults.

Saria’s mother entered the room, and set the plate in front of her daughter.

Saria’s eyes shone like stars as she stared at the breakfast.

She soon began to dig in.

The red headed girl soon stopped, watching a show. It was of course about fashion.

Models were walking down the cat walk.

They were all princesses! So beautiful and elegant.

Saria would cheer ever so slightly, when they confidently walked down the runway.

After finishing her breakfast, Saria gathered her things for school.

She would normally walk, but it was a cloudy day.

Saria sat in the car, next to her mother in the passenger seat. Saria’s mother drove all the way to her school.

It was a short drive, only about 5-8 minutes, depending on traffic.

The two chatted the whole way through. Finally, they arrived at their destination.

Saria said goodbye, and stepped onto school grounds. She looked around, spotting her friends.

She yelled, and waved at them.

They all quickly reached Saria, showering her in ‘Happy birthday”s or “I love your outfit”.

Today, was going to be great, she could tell.

Hope you like it!

Did you spot the Metaphor or Simile?

Have an awesome day and take care ^^

Can you make....?

 Kia Ora bloggers,

On Thursday, for our meet, we were given a task called Can you make.

What we made was a chimpanzee. We also had a choice if we wanted to make a different animal when we were done.

I recreated the chimpanzee, but it wasn't that great. But I guess since I tried my best, its good.

Anyways, here it is. Hope you like it <3

The Lion's Cage Silent film

 Kia Ora bloggers,

Today, for inquiry, my class and I watched a  silent movie. I watched The Lions Cage. It was about 3 minutes long.

It was pretty easy to figure out what was happening, even without the talking. The Lions Cage was pretty good, but if im honest, I wouldn't want to watch movies in silent. With talking and sounds, it make's it more easy to understand.

In the film a man was running away from a horse, he ran into a cage. Little did he know the cage actually had a sleeping male lion. The man crept away and tried to open the door put it wouldn't budge. I think he thought it was locked so tried to unlock it. Turns out it wasn't and he actually lock himself in.

He then got cloth out of his pocket and tried to wave it so someone would notice. No one did. He put the cloth back in and tried to sneak out a tiny door. On the other side though was a tiger, so he nearly got caught by it. The man quickly shut the door.

He ended up pumping a tray filled with water on accident and had to catch it quickly. The lion moved a little but thankfully didn't wake up. The man put the tray down and turned around to find a dog. It started barking loudly while the man tried to shush it. The dog then started jumping.

The man tried to kick it but the dog caught onto his leg. A women appeared and looked at him shocked. The man told her not to talk by putting a finger up to his mouth. She passed out and the dog ran away.

The man then tried to wake her up by throwing water on her from the tray, sadly it didnt work. The Lion yawned and woke up. The man dropped the tray and ran to the door. He back up against it and the lion sat down, looking at him. The lion got up and walked over to him.

He was up against a wall and tried not to move. The lion just walked away. The women woke up and quickly ran to the door, she unlocked it quickly. The man just looked at the door then looked at the lion. He slowly walked up to it and tried to pet it, but the lion roared at him, making the man run as fast as he could out the door and the woman locked it.

The man climb up a pole and the woman tried to get him down. He was saying no. After some pursuing I think, the man finally slid down and walked away with the woman.

2020 Tokyo Olympics fan zone

 Kia ora bloggers,

Today, the seniors went to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics fan zone. We left at 9:00 on the bus.

On the way me and my friend were telling jokes to each other, we were very excited. We were talking about how it might be like. My class and half of room 9 were on one bus, the rest of room 9 and the whole of room 8 were on another. We were the 2 groups.

After about 10 minutes, we arrived. The fan zone looked pretty large. We walked into the very big room and sat on this fake grass in front of a stage. On the stage were 2 adult. One of them was Debbie Tanner, she was in the Olympics. She told all of us she had won 20 golden medals. It was very impressive.

Some kids from a different school were there too. We asked question and Debbie answered them. They were very good ones.

After a while, we went to different sides of the large rooms. Haypark went to the fun zone, there wee different kind of games that were in the Olympics. I tried some with my friends, my favourite was probably the kicking game. Someone had to stand in the position and there was a T.V in front of them. They had to kick and the character on the T.V would kick as well. You got 100 points each time you knocked a guy down.

20 minutes after, we swapped around with the other school. We split into groups and played a few games. My favourite was definitely the jumping one. We had to jump and the further we jumped the more points we got. My team got the most at 188.

We kept swapping around till each team did each game. After that we had a photo in front of Eke Tahi, the huge skateboard. After getting some water, Haypark sat down in in front of this very big T.V. A bunch of adults were up on some bleacher looking seats. We were watching the Olympics live.

After another 20 minutes, we had to get up and leave. On the bus, I sat next to my friend.

It was very fun and I hope I go back.
