Kainga Ora- Subway

 Hiya bloggers,

Today my class was super lucky to receive Subway from Kainga Ora. It was absolutely delicious. I had lettuce, tomato, mayo and chicken. We also received a mini pump water bottle and a chocolate chip cookie.

We won subway due to a servery we took about our neighbourhood. Kainga Ora was really satisfied with our answers. Some of the people that work with Kainga Ora visited our class, we talked about what we would like to see in our neighbourhood. Karla, the girl who came in first, asked us about our neighbourhood.

We took some photos with them as well. It was really fun. The Subway was really yum. The cookie was really soft and yum.

Here are some photos that were taken by my teacher. The Subway was really fun and one of the best lunches ever.

Last rocket launch

 Hey bloggers,

Today was sadly the seniors last wonder project session. It was the best session ever.

Today we had an early morning tea, due to the wonder project starting early. All the seniors gathered in room 8 with the teachers and Colm. We stayed in their for about 5 minutes and talked about who knew the rules and who like the wonder project.

After we all lined up and went out to Keith Hay Park. For this session we were going to sea whos rockets went the furthest. Flags of different colours were taken to mark the spot a rocket landed. Each class would set off at the same time after a 5 second count down.

Later, after setting up, the first group's from each class went up. They put in the water and the psi. Everyone counted down from 5 and the groups launched their rockets. They all went pretty fast but the group from my class went the furthest. Each group went up and launched their rockets. They all were great and went pretty far. A coloured flag was placed down to mark the spots. It was very interesting to watch all the rockets fly off high and far. My group did pretty well in the end.

When all the groups had gone, my teacher got a very long measuring tape to see how far each rocket landed. The group with the red flag was the furthest with 37.6 meters.

I was a bit sad that it was our last session, but I sure am happy it happend.

The Wonder Project-second test flight

 Kia ora Bloggers,

On Tuesday, 6th of June, the seniors did the second. For the second test flight, we got to shoot the rockets.

Since we were doing The Wonder Project, we had to be in an open space, so we went out to Keith Hay Park to do our test launches. Each class did their own, so all the seniors weren't together.

Most of the people in my class waited on the concrete while a group from did their test flight. It was very cool watching the rocket shoot off. My teacher would tell us the amount of water and PSI that was put into the bottle before it shot off. The people in my class that were sitting down stared in awe. They would cheer for the group that was shooting the rocket.

Some groups rockets would go more high than other and some would go more far than others. Groups had to write down the amount of water and PSI that was put into the rocket. Everyone would write it down to see what amount would work the best.

When it was my group's turn, we put on the vests. The people in my group were Mehdi, Loiloi, Mayank and Amelia. Unfortunately Amelia wasn't at school that day. We each wore a vest, depending on what our job was for the project. I was engineer 1 so I wore a yellow vest. Mehdi was engineer 2 so he wore a blue vest. We both had to water safety glasses.

We did 2 test flights that were successful. The water level for the first one was 350 and the PSI was 30. For the second one we did 350 again and 40 PSI. I think the second was the best out of the 2 because it shot more high and more far. We did a count down from 3 then pressed the handle. It was very cool.

Here are some photos taken during The Wonder Project.

Hope you like it and have an awesome day.

The wonder project- Aerodynamics

 Kia ora bloggers,

Yesterday for The Wonder Project, the seniors had to work on their rockets. We talked stability and how the rocket could fly. We also talked about aerodynamics.

For the project, we had to tie a string to the middle of the bottle and it had to balance on each side. We then marked the spot where it was balanced.

After, we had to trace the bottle on a big piece of cardboard and cut it out. We had to have 3 or 4 fins on our rocket, if we put 1 or 2 it wouldn't fly in the right direction. It was very fun making making the rocket and cutting it out. Hot glue was used to attach the fins to the rocket.

Here are some photos that were taken during the project.

It was great working on The Wonder Project this week and I cant wait to do it again.

Wonder project

 Hello blogger,

This week for the wonder project, we looked at health and safety. Then we did our first test launch, a few actually.

First we went out to the Keith Hay park field. When shooting a rocket, you need to be in an area where there a are no Hazards ex: Trees, power lines, cars buildings etc.

2 kids got to help out. They had to wear vests and safety glasses. Their names were Keti and Justin.

We got to write down the PSI(Pounds per square inch) and amount of water that was used. The first test launch was successful. We started with 10-20 PSI and 250 ml of water. We got to count down and then it shot off. The next test launches were also successful. One ended up flying out behind all of the kids behind the line. It was so cool watching the rocket fly.

There had to be a good amount of water, but not too much because that would make it heavy. Not all the tests ended up being successful, but it was still very fun. I cant wait to do it again next week.

Here are some photos and videos of the adventure.

Heathly eating

Kia ora Bloggers,

Yesterday my class and I had a session about healthy eating. We learnt about the food groups and what things were inside those foods, It was really fun and our teacher Isabel was very nice. We did a group card activity about what food goes in what group and then we put cards of what was in those foods.
We have created a poster about the food groups, the everyday foods and the sometimes foods. Here is my poster, I hope you like it.

I really enjoyed learning about Healthy eating and cant wait for the next session next week.
